A wobbly legged coffee table is no match for GOAT: A Tribute to Muhammad Ali, a 792-page homage to the champ that weighs in at a hefty 75 pounds. Taschen’s (www.taschen.com) recent release of the book coincides with the 40th anniversary of Ali’s initial defeat of Sonny Liston, a victory that earned him his first world title. Through 3,000 photographs and hundreds of excerpts and essays, GOAT (Greatest of All Time) chronicles the life of Ali.
Each of the 1,000 Champ’s editions ($7,500) has been signed by Ali and includes four signed silver gelatin prints by photographer Howard Bingham and a conceptual sculpture by Jeff Koons. The 9,000 Collector’s editions ($3,000) include Ali’s signature and a signed Koons photolithograph.
