A block from Santa Monica State Beach and just south of the city’s 104-year-old pier, a new $350 million residential complex, Ocean Avenue South, will offer units for sale beginning in November. The development, the first large residential project built on Ocean Avenue in more than 20 years, is further enhanced by its location adjacent to the city’s new 6-acre Tongva Park. The 158 condominiums (including 11 penthouses) will be contained in two separate buildings—the Waverly and the Seychelle—that also will hold five high-end retail outlets and three restaurants scheduled to begin opening next summer. Contemporary beach-style residences at the six-story Waverly will go on sale first; they’ll range from one to three bedrooms starting at $1.225 million and will feature Marmol Radziner–designed interiors with white marble accents and bleached oak flooring throughout. The 10-story Seychelle, which will also offer one- to three-bedroom units with oak flooring and marble touches, will feature interiors by Clodagh Design and prices similar to the Waverly’s. Within walking distance are the shops at the Third Street Promenade and, of course, the beach.
