Biscayne Baywatch

Piero Lissoni is one of several creative contributors on a massive new project in Miami. Lissoni will design the interiors for the common areas in Miami’s One Paraiso tower, which breaks ground this fall. The 53-story building is part of a 5-acre, Arquitectonica-designed residential development located in the Edgewater neighborhood, overlooking Biscayne Bay. The Paraiso community, which begins construction later this summer, ultimately will comprise four residential towers. A team of world-renowned architects and interior designers will collaborate on the project; among them: the industrial designer Karim Rashid and Keith Hobbs of London’s United Design Partnership.

The Related Group, which is spearheading the development alongside Miami’s Strategic Properties, enlisted the Zurich-based landscape architect Enzo Enea to create park-like surroundings. The lush grounds will be adorned with original sculptures, provided through a partnership with National YoungArts Foundation. The gardens will be on display from the double-height floor-to-ceiling windows in One Paraiso’s lobby. Residents of the tower’s 276 units can choose from floor plans that range in size from 1,124 to 3,600 square feet with one to four bedrooms. All include private elevator access, ceilings up to 10 feet high, and outdoor terraces with full-height sliding glass doors. Kitchens are equipped with custom-made countertops and cabinetry by Italkraft, Wolf cooktops and ovens, and Sub-Zero refrigerators. Master bathrooms include soaking tubs and can be constructed with marble flooring.

Well suited to active residents, One Paraiso will offer a lap pool and tennis courts on the 10th floor, as well as poolside cabanas and an infinity-edge spa. Residents can schedule training sessions with a tennis pro and book post-workout massages and treatments at the building’s in-house spa facility. In addition to having an on-site beach club with a restaurant helmed by James Beard Award–winning chef Michael Schwartz, residents of One Paraiso will have access to a private second-floor lounge atop Schwartz’s restaurant. Designed by the Sao Paulo–based architect Debora Aguiar, the beach club will offer waterfront dining as well as activities, from canoeing and paddleboarding to windsurfing and Jet Skiing, and a boat will be available for residents’ use.

One Paraiso is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016, with prices starting at $600,000 and reaching up to $4 million for penthouses. Sales are being led by Related Realty in collaboration with Fortune Development Sales. (www.oneparaisotower.com)
