Chill Factor

The cool winds that ripple across the South of France inspired Joe Doucet’s design for a series of wine chillers. The New York–based artist collaborated with Neal Feay Co., of Goleta, Calif., to produce the aeronautics-grade aluminum chillers, which feature engraved lines of different depths on a sleek surface. Each two-piece chiller’s base and top fit snugly around a bottle of white, keeping heat at bay and maximizing the amount of time the wine remains at an ideal drinking temperature. The aluminum case is designed to hinder heat conduction and retain the crispness of a prechilled bottle for hours. Introduced earlier this year, the chillers are available through Neal Feay and can be custom made to fit the buyer’s preferred bottle of white. Prices start at about $3,000.
