Deco Designs for the Bath

The family-owned Florentine firm Devon and Devon, known for impeccably designed and crafted bathroom collections, including bathtubs, fittings, and flooring, recently debuted two new vanities: Suite and Bentley. The company—which outfitted Franco Zeffirelli’s Positano retreat as well as Francis Ford Coppola’s 19th-century Palazzo Margherita (reincarnated as a luxury hotel)—casts a wide inspirational net. “Our collections arise from a variety of styles, trends, and ideas we simply cannot classify,” says CEO Gianni Tanini. “I can, however, cite as one source of inspiration 1940s American art deco, and in the case of the Bentley vanity unit, old navy furniture for its design and its elegant austerity of forms.” There’s nothing austere, however, about the prices. The new vanities range from $8,400 to $11,600. Devon and Devon has also introduced two new lines of flooring: the Old Wood Collection, which is crafted from oak beams reclaimed from vintage homes, and the Patina Collection, which combines oak with aniline leather. Prices range between $635 to $1,209 per square foot. (718.649.5882, www.devon-devon.com)
