“Our vision of the project was to create a singular building grounded in a unique location,” says senior architect Alexandre Sauvé. “It must be understood that this clubhouse is located on an island a few kilometers away from downtown Montreal, in an mix suburban green area. Its geographical location has dictated the proposition. We were greatly inspired by the language of modern architecture, which is very present on Nun’s Island, to design this clubhouse.”
The building’s curve is meant to echo the the driving range and stay in balance with the setting–all while servicing of golfers who are working on their games.
The extended roof allows players to use the range during inclement weather. That was the original brief, as requested by Golf Exécutif Montréal. The design evolved from there.
Maple paneling, concrete floors and zinc elements are all part of the minimalist interior design.
Borrowing a page from the indoor/outdoor residential design playbook, the studio was intent on giving visitors and expensive, full-concept experience.
