Hidden Agenda

Boffi’s Duemilaotto line of contemporary kitchen cabinetry, which was introduced in 2008, now includes an innovative way to conceal a washer and dryer. The first models of the multiunit shelving system hid refrigerators and freezers, work areas, and ovens behind a combination of pocket doors and bifolding, sliding doors, but over the last five years the company has incorporated additional concealing systems for stoves, sinks, and dishwashers. The Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni created Duemilaotto’s new laundry unit, which launched in April and is available in a selection of wood options including acacia, larch, and graphite gray oak in addition to a high-gloss polyester lacquer in a full range of colors. A polyester lacquer unit with laundry hookups starts at $55,000.
