Inspired Lights

Bangkok, Thailand-based Ango is a lighting company that made a big splash by combining raw natural materials, such as cocoons, with modern technology to create stunningly organic lighting. Each piece, believes designer Angus Hutcheson, is “an allegory about how we can live alongside nature in a technological world.” Lately the firm has been creating delicate, ethereal lighting and accessories from hand-soldered steel wire matrixes that are coated in nickel or gold. Both the amoebic-like Randomness One chandelier (about $1,875) and the branching Wraith candelabrum (between $715 and $1,600) have the haunting presence of skeletal remains of coral reefs and sponges.
