Metal Mash-Up

This month, contemporary furniture manufacturer Mash Studios has added a pop of color and texture to its minimalistic, natural wooden pieces, replacing its characteristic white aluminum accents with a selection of metallic finishes. Both the brand’s LAX and PCH collections—named after the Los Angeles airport and the city’s coastal highway—feature designs that have undergone the subtle transformation. The LAX entertainment shelf and 3X shelf, the latter of which comes in a wall-mounted or floor option, are available in four metal finishes: brushed nickel, polished brass, polished copper, and black chrome (starting at $1,200). PCH’s buffet, dresser (available in March), and entertainment shelf all come in a dark stain option with gold or black cast-aluminum doors that are meant to resemble a wood grain (starting at $3,200). A dark PCH buffet with a shou-sugi-ban finish—a Japanese technique used to char wood—will also be available in the upcoming weeks. Each piece is made to order, and custom materials are available upon request.
