Rodarte Fashions for the Home

Fresh from its retrospective exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum in New York, Rodarte, the high-profile fashion house of sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, is extending its runway into the home. Working with Knoll Luxe, the iconic design company’s highest-end textile division, the Mulleavys have drawn on their fashion collections of the last five years to create five upholstery and three drapery fabrics named for their favorite poets.

Rodarte’s Auden collection, which draws inspiration from 2009’s spring-summer collection of hand-dyed ombre gowns, typifies its signature craftsmanship, detailing, and technical innovation in textiles. For Auden’s various colorways, digital printing on a woven raffia background produces a drapery fabric that airbrushes through entire spectrums of pastel and saturated shades. Other textiles run the gamut: from those produced with state-of-the-art technologies such as hand-guided embroidery (Keats) to more traditional fabrics like luxurious mohair (Lowell). Prices start at $130 per yard, net. (866.565.5858, www.knoll-luxe.com)
