The Los Angeles–based, multidisciplinary studio helmed by Sean Dougall and Andrew Paulson presents the Irid meditation mat as less of an object and more as an enlightened suggestion. Inspired by the traditional Japanese mat, the tatami goza, the duo considered the technique and material carefully, selecting jewelry-grade nickel for its detoxifying properties, creative wakening, and spiritual lift. The pair is known for a design-with-intent approach with their objects, furniture, and sculpture. So if the Irid is coded with beauty and virtue, now is a good time to let it flow.
