Lighting at this level is an art form. Christian and Maurizio Mussati, the founders of Wonderglass, know what they’re doing. The Italian artisan brand has tempted major designers with their glamorously indulgent works that stay on the right side of high concept. In the past, their Maison booth got the Insta hits with strong vignettes that kept the background simple. This time they went further, presenting the Cabinet of Curiosities, which was more installation than product showcase. The presentation highlighted specific works from the company’s tribe of cool collaborators like Clasesson Koivisto Rune, Nao Tamura, Dan Yeffet, Hideki Yoshimoto and Marcel Wanders, that were set against large backlit photographs of the Italian Dolomites. Wanders’s Calliope lights looked commanding and beautiful in this transportive setting, and WonderGlass achieved what so many exhibitors want, real impact.
