Tables Pay Homage to Paul Jones

When John Boone—who with his husband Christopher Lockwood owns John Boone Inc.—was searching for a fitting way to honor his mentor, the late antique dealer and furniture designer Paul Jones, he chose to reproduce a group of Jones’s table designs. But he reinterpreted them using lavish materials. A search of the archives revealed treasures such as the Louis XVI–style FM196 coffee table ($20,700 and executed in elm burl, Santos rosewood, and French walnut), which was never produced during Jones’s lifetime. Others, such as the FM34 three-part coffee table ($22,050 in bronze with a glass top), were last produced over 40 years ago. The standout, however, is an exquisite Louis XV–style cigarette table, number FM61 ($6,450), that Jones called his “little precious one.” It comes in polished or satin-finish nickel or brass (gold plate is also available) and boasts a top of tigereye mosaic, amethyst, or sea opal.
