LOS ANGELES – THG®-Paris, the leading French atelier for the luxury bath with collaborations with prestigious brands including Lalique, Baccarat, and Christofle, is proud to announce Monte Carlo, a dramatic, chic-baroque bath series in collaboration with the esteemed porcelain house, Manufacture de Monaco, bearing the official title of ‘Purveyor by the appointment of His Serene Highness the Prince of Monaco’. Monte Carlo incorporates fine porcelain and Swarovski® crystals combined with 24 karat gold to create intricate multi-layers that reveal a very detailed and structured design reminiscent of antique filigree jewelry. Monte Carlo is modeled after Manufacture de Monaco’s famous Alhambra pattern which has been used in a variety of tableware, ornaments and specialty gifts. This joins THG’s recently released Swarovski® crystal embellished Wedding collection, which is also in partnership with Manufacture de Monaco.
THG’s Monte Carlo series is presented in two variations, 24 karat white gold adorned with clear Swarovski® crystals, and 24 karat yellow gold decorated with deep black Swarovski® crystals. Each handle is a true work of art and pure craftsmanship, featuring multiple patterns in 24 karat gold, Swarovski® crystals and sculpted brass. The design begins with the detailed Alhambra motif creating a circular theme on top that continues down the cylinder, followed by a royal diamond pattern on the body of each handle – these designs are enhanced by round and rectangular Swarovski® crystals to both decorate, and separate each continuing symmetrical motif.
Recognized worldwide, the Monegasque porcelains are highly valued for their distinct, unique style and durability. Manufacture de Monaco’s process of designing and carving the pattern on each porcelain handle requires a traditional, detailed technique and the use of overlay, which involves working carefully with the porcelain to bring out the pattern. After the pattern is set, 24 karat matte yellow or white gold is applied in three layers with annealing between each step (a process that uses heat which is cooled slowly). The final step is to delicately insert each Swarovski® crystal element, one-by-one. To further the handle’s design, the base of each is set on a substantial beveled escutcheon crafted with a distinct beaded pattern into the brass. The combination of both matte and polished golds create a sense of refinement, formality and opulence never before conveyed in a decorative plumbing fixture collection.
Monte Carlo offers two spout options that take the range from elegantly eclectic to classical sophistication. First, a classic fluted spout with detailed beading to match the base of each handle communicates a more traditional or purest style. Second, THG’s baroque Cygne swan spout creates a larger statement with elegance and flair to create a bathroom setting that is palatial or even avant-garde. In the graceful form of a delicate swan, the hand chased artistry on the solid brass faucetry shows that no detail is left ignored.
“The brand, THG-Paris provides both exquisite French craftsmanship and designs of the highest level, and our collaboration with Manufacture de Monaco is a privilege. The excellence of our products gives THG-Paris its recognition as the ‘Haute couture of bathroom fittings’,” said Michel Gosse, General Director of THG-Paris. “THG Paris’ universe seeks to enrich the design of bathroom fittings by offering models in very different styles. This year, the brand continues to impress with absolutely remarkable collections in collaboration with prestigious luxury brands and talented designers. Our new 2015 collections have now become an integral part of the French art de vivre.”
A more than 15 manual step process for each handle, these multiple patterns, combined with Swarovski® crystals and THG’s mastery of brass and precious finishes, reflect the indisputable expertise of both renowned companies, THG-Paris and Manufacture de Monaco.
“At THG we are always a step ahead of luxury bath design, and Monte Carlo is a reflection of our expertise in working with fine materials and the patience and technical know-how of our master craftsman to create each element in the series,” said Pedro Uranga, North American director for THG Paris. “We are honored to work closely with Manufacture de Monaco to reinterpret their Alhambra collection into these two ornate handle options of white gold with clear Swarovski® crystals and yellow gold with black Swarovski crystals.”
The Monte Carlo collection is offered in various configurations for basins, matching bathtub and shower systems, and a range of matching accessories – to the fullest detail. In addition to the signature finishes of the collection, THG offers more than 35 finishes to compliment the two-tone options, including chrome, nickel, rhodium silver and soft gold.
