A 500-year-old recently restored farmhouse in Tuscany on 20 acres of panoramic countryside is the latest addition to the Resort Equities portfolio of properties. Partners of the San Francisco-based private-residence club spent years searching for the right Italian property before settling on the Cologna della Via home, which marks its first European property. “We bought the home from its original owners,” said partner Jane Howell, “and have retained everything we possibly could about the property, down to the olive groves in the back.” In addition, caretakers are on call to service the four-bedroom home and its guests.
The Tuscany property brings the total number of Resort Equities residences to 14 in five locations, including Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, and Squaw Valley, California, and Kapalua, Maui. Resort Equities operates on a fractional- ownership system, with a typical one-eighth share equating five to six weeks of use for every member. The Tuscan villa marks the first of what the company hopes to be a ten-property portfolio throughout Italy. Prices start at $450,000 for a 1/10 share of the home (for four weeks of the year), seven of which are still available. (www.resortequities.com)
