ONE Sotheby’s International Realty (ONE SIR), hosted an exclusive breakfast and tour at the artful Jewel Box at The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) to officially kick-off Art Basel Miami Beach 2016 for the fair’s VIP ticket holders. Guests were treated to breakfast and libations with intimate tours of the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection When We Were Young with inspired works by YoungArts Alumni, and to José Parlà’s Roots, an exhibition commissioned by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in partnership with the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), curated by Laurie Ann Farrell.
The exclusive breakfast fêted the opening of the 15th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, which has become a magnet for collectors, gallery owners, artists and industry professionals around the globe.
On view in the YoungArts Gallery, When We Were Young will feature contemporary masterworks from the early years of the renowned JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, which will be paired with newly created works by YoungArts Visual Arts alumni from across the country.
Roots, commissioned as part of the Rolls-Royce Art Programme in partnership with SCAD and presented at YoungArts, features works by Cuban-American artist, SCAD painting alumnus and YoungArts Master Teacher José Parlá. An immersive and site-specific installation, Roots brings the renowned and internationally known Miami-native home, where Parlá spent his formative years in the underground art scene. Free and open to the public through December 15, Roots includes new paintings and sculptures created specifically for exhibition within the YoungArts Jewel Box.
