Dunhill Unveils a New Explorer Pen

London-based Alfred Dunhill unveiled its newest pen in the Sentryman Explorer series, a design with a cleverly concealed compass and flashlight, along with interchangeable 18-karat gold fountain, ballpoint, and pencil foreparts. It was inspired by Celement Court, the brand’s Parisian store manager in the early 1900s, who traveled through Siberia to Kyoto, Japan, to see firsthand how Namiki pens were made, and he is credited with forging a partnership with Namiki that continues today. Each Sentryman II ($3,400) is numbered and presented in a black lacquered Alfred Dunhill box with a certificate. The first edition of the series houses an artificial flint to be removed then struck against the pen to ignite a fire. Only 150 models of the Sentryman Explorer II Pen are available worldwide.
