Mark Cross Visits the Archives for Its New Collection

The venerable leather-goods company Mark Cross has resurrected some of the best-selling men’s accessories and travel bags from its archives, making slight modifications for today’s well-traveled man. The showpiece is a leather duffel ($2,750 at Barneys) inspired by a vintage duffel from the 1950s. The duffel bag is handcrafted from vegetable-tanned calfskin and features waxed-thread stitching, hand-painted edges, and brass hardware, with rounded handles and a cross-body strap. The new men’s collection includes pebble-grain-leather duffel bags and bridle-leather rolling luggage pieces ($795 to $3,750), briefcases (from $2,495), and dopp kits ($795) available in black or red leather with either a pebble-grain, worn vintage, or smooth finish. All of the pieces are small enough to carry on a commercial flight. The striking red interiors—the brand’s signature color—feature compartments for a laptop, a tablet, cables, and chargers. The new small leather goods (from $225) include bifold and trifold wallets, passport wallets, and credit-card cases in colors that include red, yellow, green, and cobalt blue.
