Using the sumptuous fabrics for which the Italian luxury-goods brand is renowned, the Loro Piana bespoke service (212.980.7961) creates custom-made suits, jackets, trousers, and overcoats. The garments are measured, cut, and sewn at Loro Piana’s Midtown Manhattan atelier by tailors trained in Italy. Clients can choose from some 1,500 fabrics, including the brand’s exclusive Record Bale, a super-lightweight 11.4-micron wool that was used to make the windowpane-patterned suit shown here. The suit’s fabric is woven from a bale that won Loro Piana’s annual competition to find the world’s finest merino wool. The wool is in such limited supply that it produces enough fabric to make only 25 to 30 bespoke suits. Once they have selected the fabric for the suit or other article of clothing, clients can choose the silhouette, lining, buttons, and details. Pricing is available upon inquiry, and delivery takes six to eight weeks.
