Zegna’s Made-to-Measure Suits Get More Personal

Ermenegildo Zegna will provide 100 cuts of its superfine wool, long-wearing Trofeo wool, or high-performance, wrinkle-resistant wool blend that can be woven with the buyer’s name or a message of his choice into a suit. To execute these special orders, Zegna will stop the looms in its factory in Biella, Italy—which produces more than 2 million meters of material annually—to weave each custom order. The labor is reflected in the nearly $10,000 price tag for a suit and the 3- to 4-month lead time.

Zegna’s new Personalization Project is offered by appointment in its Fifth Avenue store in New York and its new Beverly Hills and Chicago stores. Clients can choose from 150 different combinations of pattern and color for a made-to-measure two-piece suit ($9,995) or a jacket ($6,995), vest ($3,000), and trousers ($3,000); the custom name or words will appear in the inside waistband of the pants or the lining of the jacket sleeve. Those who want to take it a step further can also have shirt and suit buttons customized in variety of horn and metal options with a custom insignia engraved on the face or a name or initials engraved around the outer edge (from $4,580 for a set of 18 buttons).

Personalization is also available for the company’s cashmere sweaters (from $995, monogramming optional) and rain and car coats ($4,995 and $4,495). Made with the company’s signature Silkco silk-and-cotton blend, the coats are offered in four colors and feature a zip-out quilted cashmere lining. (www.zegna.com)
