Barneys Adds a Little Sole to Its Sneaker Collection

Barneys partnered with eight leading brands on these designer sneakers...

Barneys is bringing a breath of fresh air to the men’s footwear industry with the launch of BNY Sole Series, an Exclusively Ours (XO) Project. Overseen by Chris Pepe, senior buyer of men’s footwear, the signature series features original styles created in collaboration with eight brands—some iconic, some up-and-coming—including Adidas, Vans, Timberland, Converse, Filling Pieces, Diadora, Brooks, and Common Projects.

Working closely with the Barneys New York merchant team, each brand will use new materials and design techniques to put a unique spin on one of their classic sneaker styles. The first shoe—available now—is a black leather version of the Adidas Stan Smith sneaker. The sleek shoes feature an all-black, leather-upper portion; a classic white midsole; simple black laces; an asymmetrical design; and a single perforation on the medial side. The standard Stan Smith emblem was replaced with the Barneys New York logo in gold to highlight the partnership.

Barneys will release new styles on a monthly basis through the end of the year. Each new pair of shoes will be announced on Barneys Instagram channels. Gentlemen looking for a sneaker for their sweetheart can choose from accompanying women’s styles by Adidas, Filling Pieces, and Common Projects.

The limited-edition shoes—which range from $120 to $400—will be available online and at select Barneys New York stores. (barneys.com)
