FrontRunners: Ebony And Ivory

Last year, Catherine Zadeh (212.274.9984, www.catherinezadeh.com) added an unexpected natural element to her fanciful collection of sterling silver and 18-karat gold cuff links by integrating a bit of water buffalo horn into the mix. This season, the Iranian-born, New York–based accessories designer takes her quest for the exotic a little deeper into the African jungle by blending fragments of ebony wood and polished bone.

“I wanted to keep that very beautiful satin finish that my collection is known for, but I wanted to do it in a new, more organic way,” says Zadeh, whose signature line of artisan-quality cuff links, belt buckles, and shirt studs, priced from $400 to $1,450, sells at Bergdorf Goodman, Boyds of Philadelphia, and Richards of Greenwich.
