Before launching his line of striking sterling-silver jewelry in 1980, David Yurman spent time cultivating his own artistic sensibility. In the early 1960s, after leaving college at New York University, Yurman hitchhiked across the country, immersing himself in the Beatnik and countercultural movements while making sculpture, and trained under modern sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. In 1980, after a few years of selling handmade jewelry in Northern California, Yurman and his wife launched their brand. Over the past three decades, Yurman has become the go-to for clean-lined, classically informed, and majestic men’s and women’s jewelry and watches, including recent pieces in titanium. Among his most popular designs is the Cable Bracelet and the silver Armory bracelet (both shown here). (davidyurman.com)
