Keep It Moving
The French watchmaker who designed the Harry Winston Opus 12 and its dramatic rotating hands has established his own brand and launched the Emmanuel Bouchet Complication One (emmanuelbouchet.com), a watch distinguished by its dynamic presentation of time. Hours and minutes are shown on separate, raised sapphire displays on either side of the dial, which also features a seconds display at 12 o’clock. The minutes display includes a rare 10th-of-a-minute hand. At the center of the dial is a larger-than-usual escape wheel—the basic energy-release mechanism in mechanical timepieces—which adds even more moving parts to the dial. The Complication One starts at $95,000. It is available in five combinations of materials, and the company has indicated that further customization may be possible.
