Bovet’s Pocket Watch for the Wrist

Bovet has always tried to tap its 19th-century heritage in pocket watches, but never more successfully than with its new Amadeo case design. Amadeo ($47,000) fulfills Bovet’s pocket-watch-for-the-wrist philosophy by easily converting between the two forms. A discreet system allows you to detach the strap from Bovet’s signature bow at 12 o’clock and add a modern-style 18-karat-gold fob. A hidden ring around the case back allows the other side of the strap to detach and will also hold the piece in a vertical desk-clock position—providing an engaging third option for this versatile watch. Amadeo will be available first in a 43-mm size with subsidiary seconds and power-reserve indication. The company, however, is planning to advance the design in steps across its range to some of its more exotic and complicated pieces as well. (www.bovet-fleurier.ch)
