De Grisogono Gets Playful with Its New Crazy Skull Watch

The three-dimensional wrist sculpture is set with some 23 carats of precious gems…

The new Crazy Skull watch may be the boldest timepiece yet from de Grisogono, the Swiss brand known for its boundary-pushing designs. A three-dimensional sculpture on the wrist, the watch’s case is shaped like a skull sporting a goofy grin. Depending on the chosen style, the entire surface of the watch is covered with approximately 23 carats of black diamonds, white diamonds, or rubies. The teeth, made up of 7.70 carats of invisible-set baguette-cut white diamonds, open to reveal a tongue set with 66 rubies or pink sapphires. The eyes are decorated with a starburst pattern of black and white diamonds, and each contains an independent timekeeping display, allowing the wearer to track two different time zones at once. A large, heart-shaped diamond is set into the center of the watch where the skull’s nose would be. While the de Grisogono Crazy Skull ($622,000 to $810,000) may not be for everyone, it is sure to draw attention to those daring enough to wear it. (degrisogono.com)
