The latest limited-edition version of the Doettling Fortress is the German safe maker’s first offering that melds high-level protective features with full customization. The newest version of the Fortress (the original model debuted in 2013) starts at $130,000 and is clad in bright turquoise suede. In addition to this new finish, Doettling recently expanded the colors and fabrics available. Options for exterior materials include calfskin leather, Egyptian sail cotton, Alcantara suede, and French jacquard; customers can also opt to furnish the interior of the safe with velvet or Indian silk, as well as any kind of wood in a gloss or a matte finish.
The Fortress stands just over 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Its upper section houses the brand’s Colosimo two-door safe, which contains six built-in, individually controlled watch rotators. The safe’s Spanish-cedar humidor drawer (with its electronic humidifying system regulated by a Wempe hygrometer and barometer) is made for storing precious cigars, but it can be modified to provide additional space for watches and jewelry.
