Hublot Introduces Its Spirit of Big Bang Watch

The timepiece marks a new beginning for the Big Bang collection…

Since its debut nine years ago, Hublot’s Big Bang collection of wristwatches has ballooned to include a diverse range of styles, from sleek and highly mechanical to fun and colorful. Though the line has become extremely varied over the years, the circular shape of the watches’ cases has never changed—until now. The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang is the latest addition to the collection and a radical departure for the series, thanks to its unique tonneau case, which derives its name from the French word for “tun” (a type of cask). The case of the Spirit of Big Bang, which is rectangular with rounded sides and resembles the profile of a barrel, is employed to great effect and gives the collection a breath of fresh air.

The Spirit of Big Bang is equipped with a date window at 4:30 and a chronograph that displays seconds, minutes, and hours on three subdials. The watch’s skeletonized movement is automatic and has a power reserve of 50 hours when not in use. The Spirit of Big Bang is available with four different case options: titanium ($24,000), titanium with a ceramic bezel ($25,200), 18-karat king gold (an alloy of gold and platinum; $47,000), and 18-karat king gold with a ceramic bezel ($43,600).
