Femininity and athleticism share the field of focus for the new Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW Lady. The first women’s watch in the Swiss manufacture’s Grande Seconde SW series (a more sport-specific version of the line based on Pierre Jaquet Droz’s pocket watch from 1784), the timepiece touts a stainless-steel case carrying 40 diamonds. The face translates a sense of the timeless with the horologic house’s famed figure-eight motif manifested in the two subdials set against white mother-of-pearl. As complement, the dial’s rings and plates are presented in 18-karat white gold.
Time is measured out with roman numeral–denoted minute and hour indices concentrically located atop a larger sweep of seconds marked in arabic numerals—all arced over by blued-steel hands. Beneath the exterior elegance beats a self-winding manual movement (with a 68-hour power reserve) that features an 18-karat white-gold oscillating weight. The intricate architecture (accented with Côtes de Genève patterning) is on display through the sapphire-crystal caseback. The price of the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde SW Lady is available upon request. (jaquet-droz.com)
