Revealing exquisite bone structure, the Ulysse Nardin Skeleton Tourbillon Pearl timepiece extracts its ethereal beauty from some of the earth’s most precious treasures—white gold, diamonds and, as the name would suggest, mother-of-pearl. Adorned with 133 diamonds, the 18-karat white-gold case encloses an affluent architecture comprising bridges (and flange) bedecked in mother-of-pearl inlay and accented by another 108 diamonds. The natural iridescence is complemented by a brilliant burst of rubies set as pivots.
Assuring accuracy for the watch’s manual-winding movement (with a seven-day power reserve) is the intricate tourbillon. Tucked away like the pearl oyster’s own prized possession, the gravity-countering component is hidden until viewed through the sapphire-crystal caseback. And as a further reflection of the mollusk’s contribution, both the barrel and tourbillon cage are crafted with a shell-patterned presentation.
But just as nature’s wealth is a limited commodity, so too is the Ulysse Nardin Skeleton Tourbillon Pearl, as only eight examples will be made. Price available upon request. (ulysse-nardin.com)
