Parmigiani Soups Up Its Bugatti Vitesse

In keeping with the sleek body refinements seen on the Vitesse, the latest convertible Veyron unveiled by Bugatti, watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier has added new aesthetic treatments to its Bugatti timepieces. Chief among these is the use of titanium for the teardrop case of the new Bugatti Vitesse ($325,000). Like the car, the watch features alternating surfaces with high-polish and matte treatments. Applying such a treatment to titanium takes exceptional skill because of the metal’s unforgiving texture and temperature properties, but the result is an extremely light, futuristic-looking watch. Parmigiani’s Bugatti Vitesse also employs Texalium, an aluminium-treated fiberglass used in the car, for the reflective dial. (949.489.2885, www.parmigiani.ch)
