You don’t have to know the origin story behind Jaeger-LeCoultre’s legendary Reverso to appreciate its classic proportions. Born on the polo fields of India in 1931, when an officer of the British Raj is said to have challenged the Swiss businessman César de Trey to devise a timepiece that could withstand the rigors of the game, the model belongs in the watchmaking hall of fame not only for its unique swiveling mechanism but also for its rich, nearly nine-decade-long history. The Tribute Small Seconds version ($7,950) comes on a strap by Casa Fagliano, the celebrated Argentinian boot maker, and features a beguiling blue dial inspired by the 1931 original.
