After planning the wedding, the next big decision is the honeymoon, and Absolute Travel, a company that specializes in custom excursions, has just made that process easier and more personal. It has enlisted the help of honeymoon consultant Robyn Mark to plan personalized honeymoons.
Mark, who is based in New York City, begins with a meeting to discuss the couple’s preferences: their favorite foods and wines, activities and adventures, types of accommodation, destinations, and how they want to spend their time—whether they want to relax on the beach, explore a city, have an active outdoors adventure, or have a mix of all. Once the itinerary is set, she works with the general managers at each property to orchestrate more personal touches: a surprise sunset picnic of Champagne and oysters in South Africa, for instance, or a private showing of the clients’ favorite films at the resort’s outdoor theater ($250 full planning fee; trip prices upon request).
Previous experiences have included a Moroccan adventure spent touring the Saadian tombs, taking a hot-air balloon over the Atlas Mountains, and riding a horse-drawn carriage through the Menara gardens; a 13-day trip for two through Thailand, visiting the great Buddhist temples, touring ancient ruins, and taking an elephant ride through rice paddies; and more.
