Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel, the award-winning luxury property at the foot of Peru’s premier tourism attraction, has added new programs for 2016 that enhance its culturally themed Peruvian guest experience.
“At Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel we enable our guests to truly experience Peru and Machu Picchu by immersing them in the adjacent legendary ruins and authentic indigenous activities,” said General Manager Angie Clavijo. “We are continuously creating programs and experiences, such as the new Munayki Romance Dinner, Mini Chef Lessons and Time for Andean Tales, that expose visitors to our culture and history.” She added, “Travelers want more than a quick visit to Machu Picchu on an exhausting day trip from Cuzco, and our guests our responding to our culturally themed, in-depth programs.”
- Munayki Romantic Dinner: In the Quechua language of Peru, munayki means I love you, but Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel has given the word an even more romantic new meaning: A stunning private setting and an elegant, themed dinner with special touches inspired by Andean history. The new program combines a private terrace decorated with flowers and aromatic candles overlooking a lush jungle and mountain ambiance, a seven course table d’hote Peruvian menu, a personal waiter, a bottle of Peruvian wine, and a special indigenous gift for the couple.
- Mini Chef Lessons: Peru is known for its healthy, powerhouse grains and cereals, and with Mini Chef Lessons children 7-12 learn to cook with these indigenous foods. In the one-hour class, kids prepare cookie dough with kiwicha, maca, purple corn, quinoa and other ingredients, and then design and bake their personal creations. Taught by the hotel’s pastry chef, the lessons are complimentary for hotel guests.
- Time for Andean Tales: Guests take a trip back in time on a narrative adventure that explores Andean legends as told by native Peruvians. They are legends that have been passed down from generation to generation in the time-honored tradition of storytelling. With this new program, guests learn fascinating native history told in a warm and welcoming environment of soft light and comfy cushions.
