More immersive than your standard food festival, Chef Fest, held annually in the fall, will again be one of the year’s most hotly anticipated events at Four Seasons Hualālai at Historic Ka‘ūpūlehu. The resort’s five-night Taste of Chef Fest package—priced from $970 per night for an ocean-view room—includes a $750 resort credit that can be applied toward the event’s à la carte activities, classes, and dinners.
On Halloween weekend, October 28 through 31, Chef Fest kick offs with a large group event where guests can eat, drink, and meet casually with the festival’s seven visiting chefs. All subsequent activities involve chefs, and only some involve food. Spanning the 865-acre Hualālai property, events allow guests to golf with the chefs ($275), take interactive cooking classes from them ($70), and even stand-up paddleboard with them ($50). The event’s beachfront location and active itinerary make it easy to attract top talent. Among this year’s chefs are Hugh Acheson, Top Chef judge and owner of four restaurants in Georgia; returning New Yorker Seamus Mullen who owns Tertulia and El Colmado in Manhattan; Naomi Pomeroy of Beast in Portland; and Jonathan Waxman of New York’s Barbuto.
