Founder of Song Saa Private Island in Cambodia Honored as 2015 Young Global Leader

Song Saa Hotels and Resorts is honored to announce that Founder and CEO, Rory Hunter, has been selected as a Young Global Leader for 2015, and is the only nominee recognized for his efforts in Cambodia. This award, which is bestowed by the World Economic Forum each year, recognizes the most distinguished leaders under the age of 40 for their commitment to improving the state of the world.

Hunter’s nomination recognizes his commitment to preserving Cambodia’s natural and cultural heritage and his innovation in pioneering a sustainable model for hotel development. Born in Australia, Hunter is the Chairman and CEO of Song Saa Hotels and Resorts, the developer and operator of the award-winning Song Saa Private Island resort in southwest Cambodia, and co-Founder of the Song Saa Foundation with his wife, Melita. Through initiatives such as the “Boat of Hope” project and the Song Saa Sea Turtles youth education program, his achievements are recognized as the leading private sector in the country to support the Koh Rong Archipelago’s natural environment and its 2,500 local inhabitants.

Hunter joins an esteemed group of leaders and stakeholders as a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders.  Members have committed their energy and knowledge to the most critical issues facing humankind and dedicate their time and talents to making the world a better place.
