La Casa Que Canta

La Casa Que Canta (“the house that sings”), a 25-suite inn on a cliff above Zihuatanejo Bay, captures the town’s simple charms in an unconventionally refined setting. Cantilevered, terra-cotta-color buildings with enormous palapa-style roofs house suites that are free of televisions and clocks. Several of the suites include open-walled living areas and enormous decks, where guests lounge in hammocks and cool off in plunge pools. Accommodations Of the 25 suites, 11 have bay-facing plunge pools. The resort also offers two four-bedroom villas with butlers, chefs, and concierges. Recreation In town, you can shop for Guerrero wooden masks, handmade huaraches (leather sandals), and sterling silver jewelry. Dining Whitefish seviche, grilled snapper with pico de gallo, and other Mexican seafood specialties served on a terrace with sweeping bay views. Worthy Diversion A day trip to Las Gatas, an unspoiled beach across the bay that is accessible only by boat. Lunch on delicious grilled fish and rice at the beach’s no-frills restaurants. Rates Rooms range from $435 to $785; villas are from $2,910 to $3,270 per night.
