Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine, the historic hotel and winery located in a 12th century abbey surrounded by vineyards in Spain’s Duero wine growing region, will reopen in March with impressive momentum for a successful 2015 and beyond – driven by earning its first Michelin Star, the addition of a world-class spa and eight exquisite new guest rooms slated to open in July, and crafting specialty guest experiences such as mushroom foraging on the hotel’s medieval estate.
“Our vision for LeDomaine from the beginning has been to create a hotel that stands apart for its combination of historic atmosphere and precedent-setting guest facilities and experiences, and all of the components of this extraordinary property are coming together,” said Andres Araya, Managing Director.
After closing for three months for the holidays and to accelerate construction of the spa and guest rooms, LeDomaine will reopen March 2 offering a starting room rate of $415 as well as a variety of packages and guest experience programs. On the ‘Mycological Experience,’ guests hunt for wild mushrooms in local forests and dine on gourmet dishes prepared with the freshly picked fungi.
The new spa, El Santuario, will feature 10,000 square feet of ultra-luxurious facilities, a ground-breaking bespoke vinotherapy concept, the spa industry’s first “Spa Sommelier,” and the highest levels of guest service and individualization.
In November 2014, the hotel’s Refectorio restaurant and Head Chef Pablo Montero received their first Michelin Star. Dating from 1146 and set within a 1,730-acre medieval estate, LeDomaine is an historic abbey brought into the 21st century with a sensitive and imaginative restoration – earning the property a Europa Nostra Award from the European Union for conserving cultural heritage. When LeDomaine opened March 22, 2012, it arrived on the Spanish tourism scene offering several firsts: the country’s first hotel to offer a complete butler service and the first Spanish establishment included in the prestigious Relais Châteaux guide. In August 2014, LeDomaine became the first hotel in Europe to offer guests the hottest new technology, Google Glass.
