The Park Hotel in Kenmare’s nine guest suites—no two of which are alike—feature open floor plans, dining facilities, sitting rooms, canopy beds, and original oil paintings of museum quality. A short, candlelit corridor leads from the Park’s main building to Sámas (pronounced saw-vas), a destination spa. Built from timbers and rocks gathered on-site, the spa is a minimalist oasis amid the hotel’s Victorian opulence. Accommodations The 46 rooms include nine suites; all suites afford views of the river, the hotel’s gardens, and the Caha Mountains. Recreation Treatments at the resort’s architecturally stunning spa, Sámas, commence with a traditional Irish foot massage. The hotel also has a 12-seat movie theater. Dining Lobster, crab, salmon, and sole highlight the dining room’s menu, which reflects Kenmare’s long relationship with the sea. Worthy Diversion Take a guided tour (in a limousine or helicopter) of the nearby Ring of Kerry, the rugged and scenic peninsula just south of Kenmare. Rates Superior rooms begin at $220, suites at $420.
