Quark Expeditions’ Newest Arctic Escape

Over the past two decades, Quark Expeditions has led the way in polar travel with a fleet of seven ice-classed vessels and a selection of more than 20 unique adventures—including twice-annual voyages to the North Pole in a nuclear-powered icebreaker. The newest addition to the company’s portfolio for the 2013 season is the Greenland Explorer expedition. Setting out from Ottawa, Canada, guests will fly via chartered jet to Greenland, where they will board the Sea Spirit, the company’s all-suite luxury ship. Once aboard, passengers will embark on a 14-day journey that offers adventurers the chance to hike across some of the world’s largest and fastest-moving glaciers, cruise through ice fjords on Zodiac inflatable ships or kayaks, and visit abandoned Thule villages. In addition to the Sea Spirit’s 54 generously sized suites—the largest of which is 550 square feet— amenities on the ship include a gym, lounge, and library. Quark will offer two expeditions during the 2013 summer season and rates range from $6,495 to $16,995 per person. (802.735.1536, www.quarkexpeditions.com)
