Aman’s proclivity for establishing luxury properties in little-known corners of the world has created many a hot new destination. When it opens in March, Amanemu (the brand’s second Japanese resort) will certainly place the surrounding Ise-Shima National Park onto the global-traveler’s radar. Noteworthy for its hot springs, the park is located about 185 miles southwest of Tokyo among verdant mountains and ria coastlines. The resort occupies the tip of the Osaki Peninsula, offering 24 ryokan-style suites and three two-bedroom villas, each featuring a private onsen hot-spring bath and panoramic views of the Ago Bay. Cuisine will also be highlighted by a Japanese restaurant honoring the region’s Imperial gourmet heritage. (aman.com)
