The Big Apple’s cherry blossoms are most magnificent at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, which will host its 14th annual Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival from April 28 to 29 this year. The event is always a spectacle, with dozens of events and performances that celebrate Japanese culture. For a tamer sakura experience, head instead to Central Park. The famous urban green space is home to many clusters of both Kwanzan and Yoshino cherry trees.
Where to Stay: Survey Central Park’s blooming pink from the windows of the Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park. Many of the hotel’s rooms and suites come with vintage telescopes for up-close examination of the blossoming trees down below. Throughout the month of April, the Ritz is also offering a cherry blossom package that includes spring afternoon tea inspired by the blooms and a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the park.
