Why: New expansion and Art Basel partnerships.
A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the beachfront Betsy has unveiled a renovation and expansion that has resulted in a total of 130 rooms, including 25 suites. Led by the architect Allan T. Shulman, the project involved connecting the former Carlton Hotel—an art deco structure set behind the Betsy—to the main hotel via a bridge. The resulting wing includes a 3,000-square-foot rooftop pool and a new function space that will host events in the Betsy’s noted PACE (philanthropy, arts, culture, education) program. The hotel will also host a slew of art-based programs during Art Basel week, including satellite art fair collaborations highlighting artists such as contemporary artist/sculptor Christopher Carter and Hollywood photographer Robert Zuckerman.
