Six years and nearly $100 million of renovations have given Switzerland’s Royal Savoy Lausanne (from about $350 a night) new life. The 1909 hotel partially reopened in November, with a number of floors hosting guests in refreshed, contemporary rooms imbued with historic details. By spring, the rest of the building’s 196 rooms will have been revealed, along with a cigar lounge; the new Brasserie du Royal, helmed by Michelin-starred chef Marc Haeberlin; a 16,000-square-foot spa with an indoor-outdoor pool; and a rooftop lounge with 360-degree views of the surrounding Alps, Lake Geneva, and Lausanne.
