Toronto should be on every traveler’s mind right now. Whether you’re a foodie, a culture vulture, or an unapologetic luxury lover, T-Dot has something new for you.
This month marks the city’s biggest art news in years with the May 26 opening of the long-anticipated Museum of Contemporary Art, a 3-year project that has transformed a historic industrial building in the up-and-coming Junction neighborhood into the city’s latest cultural milestone. The 55,000-square-foot institution will kick off its opening with an inaugural exhibition entitled Believe, which will include works by some of Canada’s biggest art heroes.
While you’re in town, check out one of the city’s many new hotels. Hotel X opened in March as the city’s first urban resort—complete with seven restaurants and a 90,000-square-foot wellness center—while downtown, the ultra-luxurious Bisha Hotel and edgy boutique Anndore House are adding more stylish ways to stay. Gastronomes, meanwhile, can eat their way through a host of new well-received restaurants, from Constantine (led by chef Craig Harding of acclaimed establishments La Palma and Campagnolo) to Akira Back (the sushi master’s first Canadian restaurant) to Pix 6ix, an Asian-influenced hot spot owned by none other than T-dot’s most famous man about town, rap star Drake.
