Art lovers should travel Down Under for the 21st Sydney Biennale, which will be on view from March 16 to June 11. The opening keynote event takes place March 15 at the Sydney Opera House, featuring celebrated and controversial Chinese artist Ai Weiwei in conversation with Mami Kataoka, this year’s artistic director. Seven venues around the city—including Cockatoo Island, an old convict settlement—will play host to 70 artists, whose work will adhere to the theme of “superposition.” The festival is partnering with two places to stay: The stylish Old Clare Hotel in hip Chippendale and the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, in the Central Business District.
