Abercrombie & Kent founder Geoffrey Kent took Prince Harry on his first safari to Botswana when the young royal was just 13. Years later, Harry brought Meghan back to the African nation on a couple’s getaway. Now, Kent is betting the royal couple will return to this magical country once again.
“It is rewarding to see how important Botswana has become to [Harry],” says Kent. “I can think of no better place to share with someone you want to spend the rest of your life with.”
Kent suggests the couple base themselves at Sanctuary Baines Camp, an oasis set among the shady trees and sparkling waters of the remote Okavango Delta—and, according to Kent, Botswana’s most romantic retreat. “The suites are set on elevated platforms built into the tree line and generously spaced along the meandering Boro River. They can return from a night game drive to find a ‘star bath,’ a freestanding traditional Botswana-style zinc bathtub set out on their private deck, and surrounded by lanterns.”
Baines Camp will also appeal to Harry’s eco-conscious side. Says Kent, “The camp’s eco-friendly design takes recycling to a new level with more than 150,000 aluminum cans purchased from the surrounding community and incorporated into the walls for thermal and acoustic insulation.”
