Opened on the Florida Panhandle in late summer, the Pearl is the first luxury boutique hotel in the town of Rosemary Beach.
Why to Go: Developed in 1995 to harken back to small-town America in the 1950s, the town of Rosemary Beach is quaint and pedestrian friendly. All footpaths and boardwalks eventually lead to the beach on the placid Gulf of Mexico. Favorite activities include fishing, bicycling, golfing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
What to Expect: On Main Street, the four-story hotel is recognized by distinctive striped awnings and a clock tower that houses a signature suite with the hotel’s best Gulf views. All 55 rooms have balconies overlooking the water, the hotel pool, or the town. Artwork by a local photographer and lamps with red conga drums as bases decorate the homey public spaces, which include two restaurants. There is a small spa near the pool, and guests have access to the Rosemary Beach development’s fitness and tennis club. June to August is the region’s peak season, and April to May are preferred months to visit.
How to Get There: Between Panama City and Destin, Rosemary Beach is about a 20-minute drive from Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. The destination is 300 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia. (850.588.2881, www.thepearlrb.com)
