Sneak Peek: Ritz-Carlton, Herzliya, Israel

The Ritz-Carlton, Herzliya, finds a home in one of this upscale beach community’s most exclusive suburbs.

Why Go: Fifteen miles north of Tel Aviv, Herzliya Pituach—a suburb of the city of Herzliya—is popular with tourists and vacation-home owners for its wide beaches, water-sports activities, top restaurants, and lively nightlife. The Ritz-Carlton is a part of the Herzliya Marina complex, one of the city’s main attractions, which has a high-end shopping mall, waterfront dining, and 680 berths for yachts as long as 200 feet. A rooftop pool and bar atop the boxy, 12-story high-rise and waterfront views from all 115 rooms (from $375) and 82 residences are some of the hotel’s best features.

What to Expect: The Maryland-based chain’s first venture in Israel is a straightforward, albeit deluxe, addition to Herzliya, where sunbathing, diving, and Israeli paddleball are favorite pastimes. Ritz-Carlton Residences occupy the top six floors of the building and range in size from studios to two-bedroom penthouses. Afternoon tea is served daily in the Lobby Lounge, and the spa includes steam rooms, saunas, and a hammam. Israel’s most popular attractions are within driving distance: The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem is an hour’s drive, and the Masada fortress on the Dead Sea is a two-hour drive.

How to Get There: Guests of the Ritz-Carlton can sail their yachts right up to the Herzliya Marina or take a 30-minute car ride from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.
