Solaris Vail Offers an Adventurous Package

For the weekend warrior who has completed a marathon, jumped out of an airplane, and trekked through muddy obstacle courses, Solaris Vail has your next challenge. The 79-residence mountain resort, which opened in 2011, is calling all adventurers for its new Bag a Fourteener summer package (from $315 per person per night): a weeklong trip that culminates in the ascension of Colorado’s tallest mountain, Mt. Elbert. Available through September, the package includes overnight accommodations, training classes led by Ellen Miller (a two-time Mt. Everest summiteer), and a supply pack for the ascent. Come the big day, climbers can expect 6 to 10 hours of scenic forest hikes and steep rocky trails over more than 4,000 feet of gained elevation. Once you reach Elbert’s 14,440-foot summit, views of other famous fourteeners—Mt. Massive at 14,421 feet and La Plata Peak at 14,336 feet—may just inspire you to add another climb to your to-do list.
